JENNIFER PARKER, CRNA, MA

Jennifer earned a BA in Economics and Business Management from Albion College (1995), a BSN from Wayne State University (2005), and a Master of Anesthesia from Wayne State's Applebaum College (2011). She began as an entrepreneur importing Italian ceramics, then transitioned to nursing at Providence and St. John Macomb hospitals. Since 2011, she's been a CRNA at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, serving as lead CRNA for cardiothoracic surgery since 2022. She's married with two sons.

MATRINA WHITLEY, CRNA, MA

Matrina earned her BSN from Concordia University Chicago (1998) and Master of Anesthesia from Wayne State University's Applebaum College (2011). She started her nursing career in Loyola University's Heart Transplant Unit, then worked in the Cardiac Care ICU at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak until entering anesthesia school in 2009. She's been a staff CRNA at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital since 2011. Matrina is married with four children and spends her free time traveling across Michigan to watch them play various sports.

Jennifer Banek, MSN, CRNA

Jennifer Banek is a CRNA who resides in Libertyville, IL. She graduated from the NorthShore School of Nurse Anesthesia in 2012 and practices in a variety of clinical settings both in Illinois and Wisconsin. In 2020, Ms. Banek was elected as the Lake County Coroner. She has served in the United States Army Reserves for over 15 years; her current unit is the 432nd Civil Affairs Battalion located in Green Bay. She and her husband, who is also a CRNA, have 4 grown children.

Dana Standbridge, BSN, MSN, CRNA

Dana Standbridge, BSN, MSN, CRNA

Dana Standridge has been a CRNA since 2007. She lives in Snellville, Georgia, is married, and has three daughters. ln 2016, her world was turned upside down when she was named in a lawsuit. The lawsuit was settled in 2017 but the experience opened her eyes to the dire need for CRNA education in the lawsuit process. Since that time Dana has also become an expert witness in the defense of other CRNAs.

Kathryn Seeley is a third-year nurse anesthesia student at the University of Detroit Mercy. Kathryn completed her undergraduate education at Michigan State University and has bachelor’s degrees in Human Biology and Nursing. Before attending anesthesia school, she was a cardiothoracic ICU nurse at Corewell Health in Grand Rapids. Kathryn will graduate in August of 2024 and looks forward to beginning her career as a CRNA.

Ray Johnson, CRNA, MA

Ray Johnson, CRNA, MA

Raymond began his nursing career as an RN diploma graduate from Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing. He obtained his BSN from Madonna University in 1991. He practiced for ten years in the Neurotrauma ICU at Henry Ford and in the PACU at Harper Hospital in Detroit. Raymond graduated in 2001 from the Wayne State University Nurse Anesthesia program. He received the Agatha Hodgins award for outstanding student performance from WSU. He serves as a staff CRNA at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital and participates in the QA committee. He enjoys travel, hiking, yoga, and scuba diving with his wife. They are also proud parents to a recent graduate from the WSU Nurse Anesthesia program.

Morgan McCardell, DNP, CRNA

Morgan McCardell, DNP, CRNA

Morgan McCardall, CRNA, DNP, graduated from University of Detroit Mercy in 2022, specializing in high-risk obstetric care at an inner-city hospital in Detroit. Before her CRNA role, she honed her skills as a vascular access nurse, mastering ultrasound-guided procedures. Morgan now mentors University of Detroit Mercy Anesthesia students and enjoys OR collaboration. Selected as a speaker at the Senior seminar, she anticipates future workshop and conference opportunities. As a seasoned professional photographer, she merges creativity with global exploration. Off-duty, Morgan ice dances weekly, cherishes moments with her rescue dog and tortoise, and embraces the tranquility of home life.

Christina Mandalis-Defour DNP, CRNA, APRN

Christina Mandalis-Defour DNP, CRNA, APRN

Christina Mandalis-Defour DNP, CRNA, APRN is from Michigan and completed her first degree, a BA in Communication Arts & Sciences from Michigan State University in 1993. She earned a BSN from Wayne State University in 1997. In 2002 she earned a MS Degree in Nurse Anesthesia from Oakland University. Christina began her career at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital as a staff CRNA and eventually the manager of the anesthesia department. She received a DNP from Barry University in 2022. Her main interests include healthcare simulation, evidence-based practice and the social/psychological implications of being a healthcare worker. Christina joined the DNAP program as an educator at AdventHealth University in 2023.

Stefanie Glasgow, DNP, CRNA

Stefanie Glasgow, DNP, CRNA

Stefanie Glasgow earned a BA from the University of Michigan and a BSN from Oakland University. She completed her DNP from DePaul University’s Anesthesia Program and the NorthShore University HealthSystem in Chicago. Stefanie has worked at Corewell Health Royal Oak, Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, and most recently has joined the faculty of the Oakland University Graduate Program of Nurse Anesthesia where she focuses on simulation learning, board preparation, and pharmacology. In her free time, she enjoys traveling (especially to Paris), reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Michael Dosch, CRNA PhD

Michael Dosch, CRNA PhD

Michael Dosch, CRNA, PhD is Professor Emeritus of Nurse Anesthesia at University of Detroit Mercy. He directed the program there for many years. He wrote the chapter in Nurse Anesthesia (Nagelhout & Elisha) and revised it through all editions. He has spoken many times across the country, on his interest in Anesthesia Equipment and other topics.

Winifred Huang, DNP, CRNA

Winifred Hwang is a recent graduate of Duke University and is currently a staff CRNA at Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Medical Center in Santa Clara, CA. She has previously been a speaker at the 2023 AANA Annual Congress and 2024 Kentucky and Michigan annual meetings. Prior to becoming an RN and CRNA, she graduated with a B.A. in biology from Boston University and worked as a researcher at Brigham and Women’s Hospital as well as Stanford University. Her experience in and passion for research carries over to her budding career as a CRNA today! Her primary interests are pharmacology, physiology, and education.

Joe Vecore is a dedicated and experienced certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) working for Kalamazoo Anesthesiology in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He earned his Doctorate of Nursing Practice in nurse anesthesia from Oakland University in 2021. Outside of his professional life, Joe enjoys golfing and cherishes spending quality time with his kids, family, and friends.

MARY SCOTT-HERRING, DNP, MS, CRNA

MARY SCOTT-HERRING, DNP, MS, CRNA

Mary Scott-Herring is an assistant professor at Georgetown University’s DNAP Program. Previously, she was the CRNA Education Coordinator at the University of Maryland and R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and the Clinical Coordinator of Nurse Anesthesia Education at Johns Hopkins. She continues her clinical practice at these institutions. Dr. Scott-Herring completed the Armstrong Patient Safety Fellowship at Johns Hopkins and received the Elizabeth Martinez Fellowship Award. She served on the AANA State Organizational Development Committee and the Nominations Committee and actively contributes to the Maryland Association of Nurse Anesthetists. She holds a master’s in Medical Cannabis Science and Therapeutics from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy.

JOEL ZIETTLOW, MS, CRNA, DNP

JOEL ZIETTLOW, MS, CRNA, DNP

Joel graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy Nurse Anesthesia Program in 2019. He has been practicing in Metro Detroit since graduation at an inner-city institution. He also staffs at community hospitals, independent practice outpatient centers, and office-based solo practices. He has provided multiple educational presentations since his own 2019 senior seminar on peri-operative trans-thoracic echocardiography. At his primary facility, he leads the education committee and is heavily involved in quality improvement. He is a part of the cardiac anesthesia team and serves as the department liaison for trauma surgery. His clinical interests are pulmonary mechanics, POCUS, cardiac, thoracic, trauma, regional blocks, and NORA.

LISA MUELLER, MS, CRNA

LISA MUELLER, MS, CRNA

Lisa Mueller is a CRNA from the metro-Detroit area. She completed her anesthesia residency at Wayne State University in 1996. Since then, she has owned a local anesthesia staffing company, Mueller Anesthesia Services Inc., for over 20 years. She also served on the board of the Michigan Association of Nurse Anesthetists as the State Reimbursement Specialist (SRS), District Director II, chair of the Leadership and Development Committee, Government Relations Committee member & finally, the President of the association in 2023. Additionally, Lisa has been a guest lecturer at the AANA and several universities. In her personal life, she is an avid scuba diver and enjoys kayaking, golf, and pickleball.

Engy Abunassar, SRNA

Engy Abunassar, SRNA

Engy Abunassar, SRNA, is a senior nurse anesthesia student at the University of Detroit Mercy, graduating in August 2025. Born in Egypt and raised in Europe, she brings a multicultural perspective to culturally competent, patient-centered care. She holds bachelor’s degrees in Nursing and Biology from Oakland University, where she researched neurodegeneration in glaucoma. Her doctoral focus shifted to improving perioperative outcomes in elderly patients, including developing a risk assessment tool for postoperative cognitive dysfunction. Fluent in Arabic, Engy is dedicated to advancing evidence-based, culturally informed anesthesia care through research, education, and advocacy beyond graduation.

Mary Golinski PhD, CRNA, FAANA

Mary Golinski PhD, CRNA, FAANA

Mary Golinski PhD, CRNA, FAANA, received a Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesiology degree from the University of Detroit-Mercy in 1991, and a PhD in Education, Evaluation, and Research from Wayne State University in 2002. At present, Dr. Golinski is a tenured Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at Oakland University and maintains an active clinical practice at a level- one trauma hospital and a free- standing endoscopy center. In addition, Dr. Golinski has held several leadership positions including President of the Michigan Association of Nurse Anesthetists (1999-2000), AANA Region 3 Director (2004-06), AANA Treasurer (2006-07), and Board Member and Treasurer of the NBCRNA (2012-17). She is a nationally recognized speaker and researcher.

Amazing-Grace Ighedo, DNP, CRNA, is a mentor, educator, and advocate for transformational preceptorship. After earning a BA in French, she immigrated to the U.S. in 2009 and rose from CNA to CRNA, graduating from an Ivy League university. She founded Rise Mentorship, a free program supporting aspiring CRNAs and professionals seeking growth. A proud product of the Diversity Nurse Anesthesia Mentorship Program (DNAMP), she values the power of representation and community. Amazing-Grace believes great preceptors ignite confidence, resilience, and leadership, and she is passionate about creating a ripple effect of excellence through education and mentorship.

Dr. Julie Linton, DNAP, APRN, CRNA

Dr. Julie Linton, DNAP, APRN, CRNA

Dr. Julie Linton is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist and business owner in Martinsburg, WV. She is a Past President of the West Virginia Association of Nurse Anesthetists and a former State Peer Advisor for WV. Julie brings a depth of knowledge on the issue of substance use disorder into her practice as a CRNA and her service to her state and national associations as she lectures across the country on the topic. She hopes to bridge the gap between professionals struggling with SUD and their CRNA colleagues, destigmatizing the disease of addiction and making it easier for everyone to seek and maintain recovery.

Julie also had the privilege of being an independently practicing CRNA during the explosion in the use of GLP-1s. Her lecture on GLP-1 receptor agonists seeks to educate CRNAs on the ways in which these medications work and how we may see them used in the future.

Ben combines his background as a Certified Financial Planner™ and Enrolled Agent with real-world expertise to help CRNAs (including his own wife) optimize their financial lives. His educational approach is practical, relatable, and focused on helping healthcare professionals make smarter, more confident financial decisions.

Angela graduated in 2000 from Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Clinic.  Her experience includes exclusive cardiac anesthesia in Cleveland, independent multispeciality practice in Nebraska and currently she administers anesthesia to patients having procedures in the EP Lab in two locations in Richmond, Virginia.  She enjoys working with nurse anesthesia residents both in the classroom and the OR.   She speaks regularly about her experience in the EP Lab  to her colleagues at the local and state levels.  She loves to spend time with her husband and two college-aged children, walk her dog, gallop her horse through the woods and grow/make most of her own food.

Sierra Hardy DNP, CRNA, began her academic journey in sports medicine before pursuing nursing as a second-degree student. She earned her BSN from Winston Salem State University and her DNP in Nurse Anesthesia from Emory University, graduating just six weeks after having her third child. With a critical care foundation built in cardiac and cardiothoracic ICUs from Novant to Emory to Grady, she helped launch Grady’s CTICU under Barbara McLean. Since 2022, she has practiced anesthesia across Atlanta. Sierra balances her professional work with a full family life—supporting her husband’s coaching, raising four children, and co-running a real estate business.

Shiro Bergbauer, DNP, CRNA, is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, life coach, and maternal wellness advocate based in Houston, Texas. With over 16 years in healthcare, she combines clinical excellence with a passion for supporting mothers, particularly those in medicine. Shiro founded Stethoscopes to Swaddles, a platform and podcast empowering medical moms. Inspired by her own experience with postpartum depression, she champions maternal mental health and self-care. A certified life coach, she helps women achieve personal growth and balance. Shiro’s work continues to inspire, blending healthcare expertise with compassionate advocacy for women and mothers in the medical community.

Heather J. Rankin, DNP, CRNA, FAANA, is a Senior CRNA at Children’s of Alabama and adjunct faculty at Samford University. A leader in nurse anesthesia, she has served as Treasurer and Region 7 Director for the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA), where she championed the adoption of electronic voting. Dr. Rankin earned her DNP from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and her BSN from Samford University. In 2021, she was inducted as a Fellow of the AANA, recognizing her contributions to clinical excellence, education, and the advancement of the nurse anesthesia profession.

Debbie Barber, DNP, CRNA

Debbie Barber, DNP, CRNA, is owner of Unbridled Anesthesia in Louisville, Kentucky, and contracts with Louisville Surgery Center. A Baylor College of Medicine graduate, she has over 30 years of broad anesthesia experience, including 17 years in ambulatory surgery. Dr. Barber serves on the AAAHC Expert Content Committee and is an assistant clinical professor at Northern Kentucky University. She was President of the Kentucky Association of Nurse Anesthetists in 2012 and served as AANA Region 2 Director (2014–2016). A past State Representative candidate, she remains active in advocacy for CRNAs nationwide.

Dr. Carly Mitchell, DNP, APRN, CRNA, is the Founding Director of the Bellarmine University Juneja Nurse Anesthesia Program and the Chief Nurse Anesthetist for Obstetric Anesthesia at Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital. A graduate of the Baptist Health / Murray State University Program of Anesthesia in 2018, Dr. Mitchell has extensive experience in nurse anesthesia education and clinical practice.

With a focus on advancing obstetric anesthesia care, Dr. Mitchell is dedicated to optimizing patient outcomes and refining clinical management strategies. She integrates evidence-based approaches to enhance the safety, efficacy, and overall experience of anesthesia care for obstetric patients. Her work emphasizes improving clinical decision-making and fostering best practices in neuraxial anesthesia.

Carly Lynn, RN, SRNA

Carly Lynn is a Student Registered Nurse Anesthetist pursuing her Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice at Wayne State University, where she maintains a 3.94 GPA. With a strong background in critical care, Carly has provided high-acuity care in surgical and cardiovascular intensive care units at top Michigan hospitals, including Beaumont and Henry Ford. Her doctoral research focuses on improving CRNA education about herbal supplement interactions. Carly is an active member of MANA, AACN, and STN, and remains committed to community service through organizations like World Medical Relief and Gleaners Foodbank.
